INSTITUBES FESTIVAL MADNESS.....

Straight from snowbombing, I hopped straight over to Paris to meet the lovely Naomi// for our Parisian weekend of music overload! Yes, It was the Institubes 7th birthday and boy do they know how to blow out all of the candles! We walked in on the Friday night to hear Douster turning the tropical room into and Amazonian rave up. So many people played over the two nights but the ones that really stuck out were the unstoppable Modeselektor who managed to soak a whole club with a Balthazar bottle of Champagne to celebrate the fact that they just bitched slapped us all with a killer set! TTC joined them on stage and played Dancing Box and 2000007, I ♥ed it! Das Glow played one of the most interesting sets I've seen in a very long time, his odd timing and quirky sounds was definitely a refreshing contrast to his electronic peers. Crystal blew my mind away! If you ever get a chance to see them I HIGHLY recommend it! This Japanese band have the most amazing visuals to compliment their cosmic crystal sounds, I felt like I was being teleported into a karaoke nintendo game, imagine this but bigger and longer.... Enjoy!

Boyz Noize stole the show away though on Sunday morning, there were laughs and dances for joy and surprisingly loads of tears too... I had no Idea that Teki was such a heart breaker! Happy 7th Birthday Institubes, Many merry returns!

Snowbombed!

Yes, It was Snowbombing Festival last week and I headed over there with the lovely Clash Boys for what turned out to be a few days of hardcore Jägerbombing, Serious musical intake and some killer snowboarding bruises just to top it all off for good measure, If ever I thought I was hardcore, here I was proven sooo wrong! Whilst there I saw Crookers play an amazing set which saw a sea full of drunken Snowboarders booty bouncing with their freshly casted broken limbs! 2 Many DJ's played plenty of crowd pleasers with the most phenomenal visuals. Urban Nerds turned The Arcadia into their moody den of dub step grime with Benga playing a very entertaining set indeed, in which he mysteriously disappeared half way through his set only to re-appear 20 min. later... hmmm! But the highlight of the festival had to be The Black Rabbit party which saw Guy Williams play a banging Tech House set and made me not want to ever leave! I'll definitely be back again next year... A bit more mentally prepared though me hopes! I ♥ Snowbombing!

Biggie XXsmalls

A San Fransisco DJ called Wait What has actually achieved what I would credit a banging mash up album. Now, usually I can't stand Mash Ups! For those of you not aware what a mash Up is, it’s when someone takes the vocal track from one song, the music of another, and combines them to form a sort of “super-song.” Unfortunately, most of all mashups ever created have been put together by people who clearly lack the basic understanding of music composition and what sounds good! However, Charlie Kubal seems to have got it pretty spot on, "The combination of the two is the extrovert meets the introvert," he explains. Up until recently you could download the album at What Wait Music But until a new link is put up, you'll just have to make do with this...
